Mimi turned to Iyengar Yoga during a particularly difficult period of her life, while trying to cope with her mother's battle with cancer. She didn't know what to expect, but was amazed when her yoga practice not only helped manage her emotional pain, but also her chronic physical affliction with tendonitis and bursitis.

Yoga is defined as "the cessations of the fluctuations of the mind." It brings awareness to your whole body. Mimi quickly learned that it's not just something you turn off and on; yoga is everything you do in daily life-how you sit at your desk, how you wait for the bus, how you sleep at night. It's forever changing and evolving with you and that's why she fell in love with it.

Today, Mimi is a Certified Iyengar Instructor. She has been practicing for over 13 years and is a devoted student of Gloria Goldberg, Manouso Manos and Brian Hogencamp. In November of 2014, she graduated from Bija Yoga's 3-year teacher's training program headed by Gloria Goldberg and was under her guidance throughout the Iyengar Yoga certification process. Mimi was certified in August of 2015.

After seeing the adverse effects of office life, (just about everyone suffers from lower back, neck, shoulder and wrist pain and they don't know why or how to fix it), Mimi decided to specialize in corporate yoga. She sees her practice as the antidote to being alive in the 21st century, where we pack too much into our days and mostly ignore our bodies. Her biggest reward is the gratitude and joy she sees on students' faces when they get into a pose they never thought they'd be able to achieve.

Mimi loves Iyengar Yoga because it's for everyone. Body type, age and flexibility don't matter. She is a teacher because she believes that everyone deserves a chance to understand their own body completely, to be able to take responsibility for it and to gradually get to a point where they no longer have to live with pain.
